How do you get a scuff mark off of black patent leather shoes?

I have a pair of black patent leather pumps that have a white paint scuff mark on them.....??? been asking everyone and everyone has a different answer. I have not even worn these shoes yet, they are for a wedding, I DON'T want to mess up the sheen on the shoe just to get rid of a small white scuff..... PLEASE HELP!!
