Epiphone LP special 2 vs Squier Affinity Stratocaster?

I'm wondering which guitar is best for me. I've played acoustic guitar for a few months to gain finger strength and some chords. I really wanted to play an electric guitar and am looking at beginner guitars and I've narrowed it down to a les paul special and a squier strat.I generally would like to play rock/metal so which guitar would you recommand?
