DID THIS SHY GUY SUBTLY ASK ME OUT/???? KIND OF CONFUSED ?

I told this shy guy i liked him and he told me he liked me back but hasn't asked me out yet so a couple of days ago we were with friends and one of his guy friends asked him if we were going out, and he started saying yes we are going out to his friend and he was staring at me . so what did this mean are we going out ?? thanks we r both 16:)
